The mental disturbances which are called as Obstacles are explained in the Yoga training curriculum of Patanjali. These are always the great barriers for the peace of mind and serenity. They influence the psychosomatic nature of the individual with distraction in the energy levels in a chain of events. These are found both on the physical and mental health dimensions in their own path.

The curriculum of Yoga Teacher Training Course is one of the best antidotes to deal with these barriers in a unique way. The harmony of the mind and body is lost due to these consequences of the obstacles. They distinctly bring the effect in four ways and they are as follows.

1) Pain: It is an indicator of the lack of harmony in the vehicle of our body as experienced either in the physical or mental pain. The fundamental cause is rooted in the dissipation of the energy in the energy channels due to the emotional imbalances which are stemming through the pairs of opposites such as likes and dislikes.

2) Dejection: Frustration or dejection is also an impact of obstacles on the mental health which is mainly experienced on account of the experiences of incompetency due to imbalanced energy flow in the body because of the presence of the hindrances to the concentration.

3) Tremor in the body:  The disturbed energy flow brings the continuous contribution to damage to the physical health through the loss of healthy muscle tone rhythm in which the limbs of the body experience the restless conditions or the tremors. This impact loses the general strength, flexibility and overall vitality of the person and sets deeper stages of the diseased conditions.

4) Irregular Breathing: The next impact of the obstacles takes the toll on the breathing pattern which is becoming irregular. This is an obvious symptom of the mental distractions found in the form of anxiety, depression or frustration and many other mental health problems. The collective experience of this trouble continues to affect the mind, body and emotions to the greater extent. The harmony of the breathing brings the harmony of the mind and emotions.

The practice of Ashtanga Yoga of sage Patanjali is a great remedy for tackling the above physical and mental health issues effectively under the guidance of the competent yoga teachers in a safe and supportive learning environment. The principles, practices and the applications of yoga serve as a great tool for the promotion of the physical and mental health and contribute to support the health care system to reduce the burden on the medical care of the nation with the revival of the tradition and heritage of the ancient sages.
