Vrikshaasana

Samasthithi: Stand straight, toes together, hands beside the thigh.

Vrikshaasana Pose
Steps and Asanasthithi:
Stand perpendicular to the chair
Turn the left toe slightly out.
Inhaling, lift up the right leg and place the right foot at the middle of the chair (if using chair) or place the sole of the right foot on the left inner thigh/calf.
Interlock the fingers.
Inhaling raise the arms up, fingers facing up and turn the neck back, looking up, to the last finger of the interlocked hands.
Maintain the posture for a count of 6-7 normal breaths .
Exhale, bring arms back down, leg back down, coming back to samasthithi.
Repeat the posture on the opposite side.
Benefits:
Spine strengthen, balance,open pelvis and hips. Improves posture and gait.
Expands chest, strengthens shoulders. Enhances thyroid action.
